The very ancient way people were invited into the Christian Family in the first centuries of Christianity, used today by the Catholic Church.
Who?
Members of Saint Kateri Parish, who form a small community that meets each week with those who are interested in learning more about Christianity and/or Roman Catholicism.
People who join them may be Baptized Christians from another Christian Tradition, people who have never been Baptized, or Roman Catholics who have not had the opportunity to be instructed in their faith or receive their Sacraments after Baptism.
How?
We gather each week to stretch our understanding of how religion and faith in God is part of our lives. We use the Bible as the basis of our sharing, as we all grow in our understanding of how these ancient writing can affect our lives and our faith-journey.
What?
Some areas of focus and conversation: What it Means to be Human, Our Images of God, Who Jesus Is, What we Believe about Jesus’ Death and Resurrection, The Holy Spirit, What it Means to be Church, What is Prayer, the Bible, Mass and How We Worship Together.
After Christmas, we focus more on what is specifically Roman Catholic Christianity: Church, Sacraments, contemporary issues, etc.
When?
From September through April, we meet each Thursday, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. We attend the 9:30 Mass together, Sundays beginning in December.
Requirements?
Requires an openness to the Spirit of God in one’s life. The Catholic Church believes there are many paths to God. RCIA is a no-pressure, non-threatening, "come and see" process where all who gather around God’s Word, grow. We are all seekers on the same faith journey!
