Saint Kateri Knights of Columbus Council # 13677
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men's fraternal benefit society that was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works.
The history of the Order shows how the foresight of Father Michael J. McGivney, whose cause for sainthood is being investigated by the Vatican, brought about what has become the world's foremost Catholic fraternal benefit society. The Order has helped families obtain economic security and stability through its life insurance, annuity and long-term care programs, and has contributed time and energy worldwide to service in communities.
The Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to more than 12,000 councils and 1.6 million members throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Guatemala, Guam and Saipan.
On Oct 6th, 2005, on the eve of the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary, the Blessed Kateri Council # 13677 was formed.
Our Goals are:
1. Prayer in silence before the Blessed Sacrament. This exposition and silent prayer will be a monthly affair beginning at 4pm every First Friday. The goal is that everyone in the parish will participate. There will be a sign up sheet and we will extend these hours of vigilance having secured four people for every hour of exposition. Everyone, literally everyone, children, parents, young and old, every organization in Saint Kateri, will be invited through the courtesy of the Knights: “to watch one hour with me”.
2. The fostering of vocations to the religious life. Bishop Serratelli is passionate about this. In the light of an aging clergy he asks: who will be there to nourish the faithful in the sacraments, if there are no more priests.
3. Finally in the light of our constitution, provide support of the church, in all the issues that pertain to preserving the right of the unborn, to that of instilling moral and spiritual values that beget God’s children made in God’s image and likeness.
